Los Angeles, CA April 28, 2010 — Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt, and Stephenie Meyer will produce the project.

"Bringing Stephenie Meyer's BREAKING DAWN to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity," said Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment.

So did ya notice who's tossing her hat into producing the movie??? Looks like Stephenie is making sure her vision will be made the way she wants it to be done. Amazing! I think it's great for her and could lead into a whole lot more for her as well.

The Big Post Edition: March & April Events!

Wow! What a whirlwind couple of weeks! Between the New Moon dvd release, our Southeast Texas Twilight Moms dvd release viewing party, and the convention- seems like I have been breathing all things Twilight lately. Being so immersed is not a bad thing, but leaves little time to blog and share it.

First was the dvd release at Wal-Mart. It was great to spend time in line with friends and my daughter. Not so happy when they didn't have any blu ray copies, but got mine the next morning.

The dvd release party was a blast! I hosted it at my home and had a wonderful turnout! Got a chance to meet new friends & see some I had met at previous events. We were a bunch of giggly girls :)

Surprise!

I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

Then I got the news: my "short story" was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We're going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.

I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I'm glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.

Some New Moon Twi-Tastic Fun!

Wow! The day we have been waiting a year for has arrived! New Moon lives up to the hype and high expectations of the fans.

The night started at 6pm with a fun gathering at Julie's- complete with some Italiano cuisine, mint chocolate Forks cake balls, sliced apples & Edward ice cream pie! A very lively Twi-gift exchange kept everyone laughing while Twilight played on the Blue Ray.

Edward even made an appearance as Kathryn's date!

OME represented :)

The 11 of us made it to the theater by 8:30 and found a line formed! Thankfully they were prepared and didn't make us wait in line in the food court area very long. Management called out our theater number and we made the mad dash to find out place in line...the place we would have for hours!!! Yes, the wait was long, but it was so cool to share this experience with "friends"-everyone was in great spirits!

Exclusive: Melissa Rosenberg on 'New Moon,' Edward's Proposal, and 'Breaking Dawn'Tue., Nov. 3, 2009 11:01 AM PST , by Jen Yamato

FEARnet spoke exclusively with Rosenberg from her home in Los Angeles, where she had recently returned from a whirlwind trip to Rome to unveil new footage for Italian Twilighters. Among other topics, Rosenberg discussed her favorite new scenes and explained how that proposal scene will be split between New Moon and Eclipse -- and that, if she were to write Breaking Dawn, the subject matter wouldn’t be a problem.

Have you seen the final cut of New Moon yet?

I saw an early cut of it, yeah. Some of the special effects weren’t there, stuff like that. But I have to tell you, it’s funny because for writers, and for me – I often will dread a director’s cut. As a writer, you have already seen the movie in your head. And the movie in your head costs a gazillion dollars; you can’t actually make the movie in your head, but you’ve seen it. And so, a director’s cut is almost always a disappointment because it’s not what you’ve seen in your head. It can be a major adjustment, it’s not what's in my head but this one’s different, but as good.

When I saw Chris’s cut, about ten minutes into the movie I started smiling. I thought to myself, I get to put my name on this. It was just so thrilling. It’s really good. I have to tell you, in all sincerity, it’s really good.

I saw you last on a set visit to New Moon’s Vancouver stages, and you had just arrived to watch the dailies. You seemed really pleased with what you were seeing from the Volturi scenes in particular.

Yes, and that was on a sound stage. The big screen version really lives up to it. It just looks lush and beautiful; it looks like a big movie. And the budget didn’t increase that significantly. Harry Potter budgets are what, $150-200 million? This is half of that, at least.

You’ve added a few scenes to New Moon that weren’t in the book, like the one where Jacob gives Bella a gift of a dream catcher. Can you tell us about that?

Actually, I got the idea from a writer friend of mine. I was searching around for that moment... You had to establish the relationship between Bella and Jacob; he can give her gifts and Edward can’t. The sort of easy friendship with the two of them, and yet also, show that Jacob actually has feelings for her. He sort of casually presents the dream catcher, but really he’s shopped around for it for quite a while. I wanted it to be something that was special to him and his culture, and it was so thematic to Bella; the movie is laden with her dreams. Her dream life is a very rich part of the film. So thematically, it really blended well. I thank my friend for coming up with that.

What’s one of your favorite new scenes or extended scenes that you’ve written into New Moon?

One of my favorites is actually the end, when they go to Volterra and confront a couple of Volturi. In the book, the conflict in that scene is verbal; there is an attack on Edward by Jane, and it works in the book, it’s beautiful in the book. It’s never acted out; it never explodes. For the movie, because it’s a visual medium, I felt like I wanted to externalize that conflict more, turn it into more of a battle. So it’s the same scenario, it’s just enacted and externalized. We get to see an actual fight.

We see that fight between Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Felix (Daniel Cudmore) in one of the latest trailers, and with its slow-motion elements it looks great.

I’m telling you: Chris and his stunt guys and the DP are just fantastic. Daniel Cudmore, who plays Felix, did a tremendous job. I love Daniel Cudmore! Not only is he terrific in this role, he’s also just the greatest guy. Funny and charming.

In your script for Twilight, you wrote in a number of direct quotes from Stephenie Meyer’s book. Can we expect the same in New Moon and Eclipse?

There are definitely some quotes sprinkled throughout. In some cases I’m paraphrasing, but I do try to include as many as I can. It’s very important. It brings the flavor of the book into the movie, so I definitely try to.

Fans want to know: Did the proposal scene make it into New Moon?

The proposal comes into the end of New Moon, and that is the first proposal. Absolutely in Eclipse, the proposal when they’re on the bed, yes -- to me, that was a quintessential scene from the book. When Edward gets on his knees, with his mother’s ring, and she says yes -- that was one of the most romantic scenes that Stephenie wrote in all four books.

There are so many specific scenes and events in the Twilight books, it doesn’t seem like you could take them out and still remain true to the story.

Yes. There are several that are so essential to the storytelling that you absolutely must put them in.

Wyck Godfrey specifically said that if Breaking Dawn was made, it would absolutely be a PG-13 film, so it seems that staying true to that story’s specific events while making it suitable for younger audiences would be challenging.

Well yes, you have to know your audience. And... there’s no reason for it not to be. It could be PG-13.

Obviously by the fourth book in The Twilight Saga, there will be subjects and events that do seem unsuitable for the younger side of the Twilight audience. How would you tackle that challenge?

If I were to be writing that, I think there are many things that probably are inappropriate, and there are probably other things that can be implied. I don’t think that it will be a problem.

Oooh! Look at Edward. Not looking thrilled! A new still released from New Moon today- must be from early on in the movie, seeing as Jacob's hair is long.

Ok, I'm feeling slightly conflicted. I am on pins and needles for this movie to open and love the clips being released to us "hungry for more" fans. But, are we getting too much? Do you feel like you have already seen the movie? If there was so much to give up as samples- why hold back and have the opening so far away? I mean the studio has been teasing us with clips since Comic Con! I know there's another clip to be shown during the Scream Awards. Twilight has a couple nominations and Taylor is presenting the clip.

But I think I'm done watching trailers, clips, looking at new stills, etc. This next month I want to "cleanse the palate" so to speak, so that when I do see the movie, I will be ready for the full experience.

Well, life changes, plan changes. Vegas out, hometown Houston is in! April is just around the corner and that's when the Official Twilight convention is happening. It's all happening! This event, no matter what city we decided to go to, has been in the planning for months now. What a great turn of events that our local OME sisters coordinated with Creation Entertainment to bring a con here. It will be a blast, or a ball- literally. There's a huge ball event that weekend! I have to start looking for a super cool dress & Twilight it up.

Today is Bella's birthday! The day she dreaded, the day that changed everything in New Moon. Getting older wasn't an option for her then...not so much anymore! I was invited by my good friend Alycia to take part in a big birthday celebration dinner at OutBack. O.M.E. is a Twilight sorority that she is leader in, so it was very sweet to invite me and let me bring my Twilight OCD gal pal Julie.
We were so warmly welcomed and felt apart of the group quickly.
Why wouldn't we?
This is a group of women who love the same things we do when no one else understands!

The party was complete with a gift exchange and

we were given Cullen crest pendants as well!

No birthday party is a real party without cake.

Edward was quite tempted by the vanilla :) I don't blame him, it was delicious!

I joined O.M.E. today! Very excited to do more with this wonderful group of ladies.

Ok, so this seems to anti Twilight to me.

Bella is supposed to be awkward and clumsy- no where near perfect...as Barbie is. Hey, Edward could have fallen in love with Tayna or Rosalie if he was searching for seamless beauty, but he wasn't. I don't think I'll be buying this for my daughter and I think Mattel should read the books and give us "reality". Well, as much "reality" as you can from a fictional teenage vampire romance! lol

So now...I shared the new New Moon preview with my sweet, tolerant hubby the other day. Now remember, he hasn't read any of the books, but has watched Twilight with me a ton. He likes it :) I kinda filled him in on some upcoming events in the next books, and after seeing the new Meet Jacob Black trailer- he professes that he is no doubt Team Jacob! What?! I am undoubtedly Team Edward, lol. But this is no surprise really...just humorous.
I still love him ;)

Taking the Blog on the Road Next Summer

No details have been released, oh but when they are....this TwiMom will be ready! Internet rumors are swirling around TwiCon 2010 to be held in Las Vegas & Toronto. A very reliable source told me that there was chatter about it in Dallas at TwiCon a couple weeks ago.

My hubby, daughter and I are really looking forward to going. Ok, so my sweet husband won't attend the convention with us girls, but he will be happy to play in Vegas while we swim in all things Twilight. A fellow Twilight mom/daughter & hubby team are planning the trip with us.

So, I'm starting the saving right now and plan on having a couple garage sales to fund my trip too! I feel a little weird about it, (it's like really jumping off the deep end for me)but I know I am in good company ;)

'Twilight's Peter Facinelli Muscles Up for 'Eclipse'

"When Peter Facinelli starts rehearsals for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,' he and Robert Pattinson and the rest of the gang will be spending a whole week on fight training.

"What happens in 'Eclipse' is Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) comes back and she builds an army of new-born vampires, which are basically new-bitten vampires that are blood-crazed," Peter tells ET. "She is trying to get this army to come after us so she can get to Bella (Kristen Stewart), so we team up with the werewolves to attack these newly bitten vampires."

Peter is leaving for rehearsals for the new movie today, and he says that there are two weeks of rehearsals before the fight training, so his wife Jennie Garth and his girls will probably come up to visit.

"I try not to go more than two weeks without seeing the kids," he says. "That is my general rule. After two weeks, it gets to be too long and the kids are, 'Who are you?' I am on 'Eclipse' for three months. I will go back and forth. I am going to have them come up for the fight training so they can see what dad does."

The 35-year-old actor says he considers the 'Twilight' cast his second family: "We are really like a family off and on set. I love each and every one of the cast members like they are my kids."

As soon as 'Eclipse' wraps, Peter will start shooting the second season of his Showtime series, "Nurse Jackie."

"What is fun for me is to play two characters that have the same occupation, but they are 180 degrees apart," he tells ET."

I just love how in just a short glimpse of the weekend, you can see such a spectrum of people! My friend Julie & her daughter were there and kept me updated by phone and mobile pics. I'm looking forward to a full debriefing on Thursday :) All I know is, I'm not missing TwiCon 2010!
